About Dr. Stokes
As a preacher’s kid, Dr. Britt Stokes “cut his teeth” behind the scenes of local church ministry. From worshiping in small rural churches, all the way to metropolitan megachurches, Britt has experienced church from a variety of angles and perspectives. He’s served local churches in all sorts of volunteer roles and through positions such as a deacon, teaching pastor, elder, denominational leader, and the lead/senior pastor of numerous congregations during transitional periods.
Prior to serving in ministry, Britt worked in both government and corporate settings, specializing in organizational tax strategy and governmental tax audits. Through a tactful, yet candid approach, Britt enjoys working with congregations to navigate leadership transitions with an aim toward seeing the gospel continue to change people’s lives.
Britt holds a PhD in Biblical Spirituality from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he wrote a thesis on the hymnwriter, Isaac Watts. He also received a ThM and MDiv from Southern Seminary, an MBA from Charleston Southern University, and a B.S. from Clemson University.
Britt has also published a variety of books, edited volumes, and articles in the areas of spiritual formation and historical theology. In his free time, he enjoys Clemson football, turkey hunting, and hanging out with his family. He currently resides in Charleston, SC, with his wife Maegen and two children, Grey and Wells.
FAQS
Though we work with churches that have varying theological distinctives, foundationally, we are evangelical and hold to the inerrancy and authority of Scripture. We believe the Bible, as a whole, and in its parts, contains the very words of God. We regularly work with churches that joyfully affirm statements such as: The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, The Danvers Statement, and The Nashville Statement.
Of course! No matter the size or budget of your congregation, we meet congregations where they are. We have a particular heart to help churches in severe decline, even on the brink of closure.
Simply reach out to us on the website to set up a free consultation. Every church is unique, so the initial consultation helps us to learn about the state of your church and determine a customized path forward. It also allows you the opportunity to meet Britt and ask any questions.
Both! Depending on his availability and the location of your church, Britt may be available as an in-person interim pastor for your church. In addition, Propago is equipped to aid churches remotely and provides unique solutions to a variety of church transition challenges.
Absolutely! Propago specializes in all forms of leadership transitions and would be happy to engage with current pastoral leadership to begin succession planning.
We are equipped to help churches at any level of engagement necessary. We have provided assistance in organizing search committees, advising committees, helping find candidates that are a fit, vetting a short-list of candidates, etc. Whatever the task, Propago is here to help.
